Applying for registration

After satisfactorily completing Module 3 of the calmbirth® Practitioner Training course participants are invited to join the calmbirth® register.

Upon acceptance to the register, the practitioner is issued with a unique registration number and an identification card which includes their photograph and the year that registration is current.

Registered practitioners must wear this card when providing calmbirth® classes so that they are easily recognized as being currently registered.

Upon entry to the register the practitioner’s work is undertaken within the professional framework developed by the calmbirth® register. This framework is set out in this booklet as the service standards, codes and limitations of the work of a calmbirth® practitioner. These are the guiding principles that inform practitioners, clients, birth service professionals, birth facilities and any other interested person about the role of the calmbirth® practitioner. This means that any person across the world can identify the qualities and practices of the calmbirth® practitioner Adherence to a recognized framework of this kind creates a unified professional standard of calmbirth® practice and it is this that identifies the practitioner as a professional.

Registered calmbirth® practitioner are encouraged to direct women, hospital personnel or anyone else who may have questions about calmbirth® to the register’s web site. This protects individual from having to speak on behalf of all calmbirth® practitioners
